Professor Sahoo is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist and Certified Independent Medico-Legal Examiner, specialising in independent psychiatric assessments for personal injury matters. He holds dual accreditation in Addiction Psychiatry and Consultation Liaison Psychiatryand is certified in GEPI, PIRS, and AMA guidelines.

He is currently the Clinical Director of ECT and Consultant Psychiatrist at Ipswich General Hospital and a Professor at the University of Queensland. Prof Sahoo is accredited with WorkCover QLD, WorkSafe VIC, and WorkCover TAS, and approved for work with self-insurers and legal firms.
