

Dr Tarun Sehgal trained initially in medicine in his country of origin, India. In 2003, he transferred to the United Kingdom. He completed training in General Adult, Liaison and Rehabilitation psychiatry from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, UK. In 2013, he became a Consultant Psychiatrist at Lister Hospital in Stevenage then worked at various hospitals in the UK until moving to Australia.
In January 2015, Dr Sehgal became a Senior Staff Specialist/ Consultant Psychiatrist in the Acute Care Team, Emergency Department and community mental health teams in Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Service in Brisbane, Queensland. Dr Sehgal worked in various leadership and Director positions at Queensland Health from 2018 to 2022. Dr Sehgal started full-time in private practice in 2022. He co-founded the mental health awareness application SOLH WELLNESS in 2020. He has published a number of peer-reviewed papers and has provided media information.
Most recently he continues in private practice and also consults at the Avive Clinic in Brisbane. He is a current member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal in Queensland as well as the General Medical Assessment Tribunal and Psychiatric Assessment Tribunal, Workers' Compensation Regulatory Services, Office of Industrial Relations.
He undertakes medicolegal services for a range of referrers, including workers' compensation, and other types of insurers as well as for law firms. He is an experienced independent medical examiner, able to give an expert opinion on a broad range of psychiatric issues.
Fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, Dr. Sehgal offers medico-legal assessments in all three languages.
