Dr Brook Burchgart is a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in adult psychiatry across inpatient and community settings. She is a certified Addiction Psychiatrist and works extensively in dual- diagnosis disorders including chronic pain. She has special interest in trauma informed psychotherapy. She works predominantly in her own private practice as well as regular engagement as a locum for public mental health services for the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.

Dr Burchgart is an experienced Medicolegal Examiner and with previous experience working as an occupational therapist is well placed to comment on the impact of, and considerations regarding, mental health issues and their impact upon work.

Beyond her clinical experience, Dr Burchgart has contributed to psychiatric research, publishing scientific papers in the subject area of addiction psychiatry. She was a member of the RANZCP committee for the QLD branch Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry from 2018 –2026. She continues to participate in monthly peer review.
